🛍️ Top 5 Shopping Spots in Seoul

Seoul is full of shopping destinations, but sometimes when you actually want to go shopping, you might find yourself wondering, “Where should I go?” I often feel the same way! So today, I’ll share five of my favorite shopping places in Seoul. I’ll divide them into northern and southern Seoul areas for easier planning.

<In Northern Seoul>

1. Hyundai City Outlet in Dongdaemun

This is one of my go-to shopping malls. It’s like a department store, but as an outlet, prices are lower than retail. You can find a wide range of brands—from trendy Korean labels to luxury designer ones. The selection covers everything from cute, youthful styles to elegant brands for more mature shoppers.

I usually browse from the B1 floor up to the 3rd floor. Since it’s an outlet that carries brand items, you won’t find super cheap pieces here, but you can get great quality items at good sale prices. The designs are often unique and the quality is reliable. I also like shopping for kitchenware here, and the food court on B2 is really nice too!

On the B1 and 2nd floors of Hyundai City Outlet, you can find shops selling K-pop albums and related merchandise. In particular, the 2nd floor features stores where you can purchase Korean design goods, figures, and a variety of cute accessories.

Dongdaemun has long been known as Seoul’s shopping district. Although some older malls have disappeared, Hyundai Outlet remains one of the most vibrant spots. Nearby, you’ll also find Doota Mall, another famous shopping center, and Dun Dun, which is becoming popular among tourists—especially for its huge Daiso store!

2. Myeongdong Street

Myeongdong is one of the most famous shopping streets for tourists. The area is lined with countless stores—from independent fashion shops to major brand boutiques.

If you’re looking for affordable, cute fashion, explore the small alleys behind the main street. Most brand stores are located along the main road, while the hidden gems are tucked away in the side streets. It gets very crowded on weekends, so I personally prefer visiting on weekdays.

3. Namdaemun Market

Just a short walk from Myeongdong, Namdaemun Market is one of Seoul’s oldest traditional markets. Here, you can find all kinds of items at very low prices. You won’t see brand-name products, and if you do, they’re likely knock-offs.

But if you’re looking for affordable T-shirts, hats, accessories, or bags, this is the place! It’s also the perfect spot to grab a cheap suitcase if you need extra luggage—much cheaper than at department stores.

One tip: many shops here are cash-only, so bring some cash with you. Namdaemun is also great for street food—don’t miss the local snacks while you shop!

At Namdaemun Market, you can find an incredible variety of children’s fashion, accessories, shoes, and hats, all at very affordable prices.

4. Starfield COEX Mall

Located in Gangnam, Starfield COEX is a massive indoor mall packed with all kinds of shops. It’s perfect to visit on rainy or cold days since everything is indoors. You’ll find a variety of brands, from trendy fashion to lifestyle stores, and you’ll definitely get your steps in—this place is huge!

COEX is also home to the famous Starfield Library, one of Seoul’s most Instagrammable photo spots. There are also exhibitions and trade shows held here regularly, so check if something interesting is happening during your visit.

5. Express Bus Terminal Underground Shopping Mall (GOTOMALL)

This one’s a hidden gem that many foreign visitors don’t know about! Located near the Express Bus Terminal Station, GOTOMALL is a long underground shopping street filled with small clothing shops.

Most of the stores sell affordable fashion that follows the latest trends. Prices are very reasonable, and it’s especially popular among young women. If you go, make sure to find the correct section—GOTOMALL, since there are several different underground areas in the station.

A few things to note: there aren’t many men’s stores, and the quality can vary. But if you’re after cute, trendy, and budget-friendly clothes, you’ll love this place!

💖 So that’s my list of five great shopping spots in Seoul! There are, of course, many more places to explore, but these are the ones I personally enjoy most. I hope this guide helps you have a fun and satisfying shopping experience during your trip to Seoul—may you find lots of beautiful treasures to take home! ✨
