🍁 5 Best Places to Enjoy the Autumn Scenery in Seoul
Korea is a country with four distinct seasons — spring, summer, autumn, and winter — each offering its own unique beauty.
As I’m writing this in early November, autumn has painted Seoul in shades of yellow and red. With its many mountains and trees scattered throughout the city, Seoul becomes a stunning canvas of colors this time of year.
Here are five of the best places to experience the beauty of autumn in Seoul.
1. The Palaces of Seoul — Especially Gyeongbokgung & Changdeokgung
Seoul’s palaces are filled with centuries-old trees that harmonize beautifully with the traditional architecture.
The contrast between the ancient wooden buildings and the vivid autumn foliage is simply breathtaking.
Changdeokgung Palace is particularly famous for its forested surroundings, which make the scenery even more enchanting. Inside, you’ll find a large ginkgo tree that turns a brilliant yellow in fall — a must-see sight.
The Secret Garden (Huwon) located behind the palace is another highlight, especially in autumn, but remember that you need to make a reservation in advance to enter.
2. Namsan Walking Trail
The walking paths leading up to Namsan Mountain are among the best spots to enjoy fall foliage in Seoul.
Every trail offers a great view, but the route starting near the National Theater of Korea is especially pleasant for an autumn stroll.
As you walk slowly, surrounded by colorful leaves, you’ll eventually reach N Seoul Tower, where you can take in panoramic views of the city — the perfect way to enjoy both nature and Seoul’s skyline in one trip.
3. Seoul Forest
Located in Seongsu, Seoul Forest is one of the city’s largest and most peaceful parks.
It’s filled with various kinds of trees and plants, and the garden in the middle creates a romantic atmosphere.
Here, you can quietly enjoy the sight of yellow ginkgo leaves falling like golden rain.
If you prefer a relaxing walk without too much climbing, Seoul Forest is the perfect place to experience the calm side of autumn in the city.
4. Gwacheon Seoul Land
Although it’s known as an amusement park for children, Seoul Land in Gwacheon is also a wonderful place to enjoy autumn scenery — even if you don’t ride any attractions.
When I visited with friends to see the fall foliage, it turned out to be far more beautiful than we expected.
The cable car ride offers a stunning bird’s-eye view of the colorful landscape, and we could see brilliant red and orange leaves spread out below us.
We only purchased tickets for the zoo area, which allowed us to see both the animals and the gorgeous scenery.
The path lined with yellow ginkgo trees was truly unforgettable.
5. Haneul Park (Sky Park) – The Silver Grass Fields
Did you know there’s a place filled with tall silver grass fields near Hongdae?
At Haneul Park, you can immerse yourself in a romantic autumn atmosphere that’s different from the usual fall foliage.
Walking through the softly swaying silver grass feels dreamy and poetic — no wonder it’s a popular dating spot for couples.
It’s also a great place for taking photos with an amazing autumn backdrop.
If you visit around sunset, you’ll be rewarded with even more magical views of both the glowing sky and the Seoul cityscape.
🍂 Whether you prefer quiet parks, ancient palaces, or romantic fields, Seoul has countless ways to experience the charm of autumn.
Whichever spot you choose, don’t forget your camera — the colors of Seoul’s fall are truly unforgettable.
