Discover Seoul Museum of Craft Art: A Free Cultural Gem Near Hanok Village

Seoul is home to many high-quality museums that are completely free to enjoy. In this post, I’d like to introduce the Seoul Museum of Craft Art. Many visitors walk through Samcheong-dong Hanok Village, but surprisingly few realize that there is an impressive museum right along the way. It’s a fairly large building, and many people mistakenly pass by thinking it’s a hotel. In fact, this building is the Seoul Museum of Craft Art. This museum is dedicated to traditional Korean crafts, and best of all, all exhibitions are free. If you’re visiting a hanok village, I highly recommend going beyond just taking photos of traditional houses and taking some time to truly appreciate the essence of Korean aesthetics inside this museum. [Museum Information] Museum Name: Seoul Museum of Craft Art Address: 4, Yulgok-ro 3-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul (Near Anguk Station, Exit 1) Opening Hours: Tuesday–Thursday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Friday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM/ Closed on Mondays Official Website: www.craftmuseum....

Seoul Light DDP 2025: Magical Light & Media Art Festival

Fall Nights in Seoul:
Dive Into the Magic of Light at “SEOUL LIGHT DDP”

If you’re visiting Seoul, you can’t miss the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), a stunning landmark near Dongdaemun Station. Designed by the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the building itself is a work of art. Every spring and fall, DDP transforms into a glowing masterpiece as it becomes the canvas for Seoul Light DDP, a large-scale media art festival. I make a point to visit every year to enjoy the incredible visuals projected across this architectural wonder. And yes—Seoul Light is back in 2025!

Event Details

This year’s theme, EVERFLOW: The Moving Scene,” focuses on creating an immersive experience where visitors and space resonate together, blurring the boundaries between audience and art. The lineup of artists is nothing short of spectacular:

The result? A breathtaking mix of visuals and music projected onto the massive curves of the DDP. Each full media art sequence lasts about 27–30 minutes, and it will play around four times between 8 PM and 10 PM.

💡 Pro tip:

Here’s a tip from me: because of the building’s unique design, I like to move around and watch from different angles. The experience changes completely depending on where you stand—making it worth watching more than once!

And since DDP is located right in the heart of Seoul’s shopping district, you can easily shop at nearby malls or markets before heading over to enjoy the light show.

I’ve also added some photos from last year’s Seoul Light. The event is always refreshing because they reinvent the theme every year, so even if you’ve been before, you’ll discover something new.
